15 - 1/4 cup finely chopped chives

# How to Make It:

01 - Spread guacamole evenly in a large central rectangle on a large rectangular serving board. Smooth the surface with a spatula.
02 - Sprinkle chopped parsley or cilantro over the guacamole for texture and vibrant color.
03 - Lay thin strips of mozzarella string cheese or white cheddar horizontally across the field, spaced evenly. Optionally, pipe straight lines with sour cream using a piping or zip-top bag for precision.
04 - Spread salsa on one short end and hummus or black bean dip on the opposite end of the board.
05 - Place tortilla chips, mini pretzels, baby carrots, celery sticks, sliced bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, black olives, and pickles in rows or clusters along the sides or as decorative elements.
06 - Sprinkle finely chopped chives and shredded cheddar cheese over the arrangement as desired.
07 - Present immediately with small plates and napkins for guests.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It looks like you spent hours on it, but takes just 30 minutes—the perfect way to impress without stress
  • Every guest finds something they love, from cheese lovers to veggie enthusiasts to crunch-seekers
  • It's the kind of board that makes people smile before they even taste anything, turning snack time into an event
  • You can build it entirely the night before (except final garnishes) and still look like you have everything under control
02 -
  • Assemble this within 2–3 hours of serving, maximum. The guacamole will start to brown, and the herbs will wilt if it sits too long. I learned this the hard way when I assembled it the morning of game day and by afternoon it looked sad. Even if you have to prep components separately, do final assembly closer to game time
  • If you're making this ahead, cover the guac with plastic wrap directly on the surface to prevent browning, and keep all your other ingredients separately in the fridge. You can literally assemble it in 10 minutes when people are about to arrive
  • The sour cream lines don't have to be perfect. I spent 20 minutes my first time trying to make them pristine, then realized that slightly wobbly, hand-piped lines actually look more charming and homemade than perfect ones. Embrace the imperfection
03 -
  • Buy pre-cut vegetables if you're short on time. I used to think I had to slice everything myself, but honestly, those pre-cut veggie packs from the grocery store are a complete game-changer and save you 15 minutes
  • If fresh guac seems expensive or avocados aren't in season, make a double batch of a really good spinach hummus. It spreads beautifully, doesn't brown, and honestly creates a more authentic 'grass' color than even the best guacamole. This was a happy accident the year avocado prices hit the stratosphere
  • Chill your serving board in the freezer for 10 minutes before assembling if your kitchen is warm. This keeps the guac from getting too soft and makes everything sit better, longer
