Recipe Help & Answers

How do I achieve the perfect marshmallow topping?

After baking the mashed sweet potatoes, sprinkle mini marshmallows evenly and return to the oven just until they puff up and turn golden brown for a delightful texture.

Can I substitute the pecans in the topping?

Yes, pecans are optional. You can omit them for a nut-free version or swap with walnuts or other preferred nuts for varied flavors.

Is it possible to make this dairy-free?

Replace whole milk with a non-dairy alternative like almond or oat milk and use dairy-free butter to accommodate dietary needs without sacrificing creaminess.

What spices enhance the sweet potato base?

Cinnamon and nutmeg are classic choices adding warmth, but you can also add a pinch of ground ginger or clove for extra depth and spice.

How should I prepare the sweet potatoes for best texture?

Boil peeled, cubed sweet potatoes until tender, then mash thoroughly to a smooth consistency before combining with other ingredients for a creamy base.
